THE NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE IN MIAMI HAS ISSUED A

* FLOOD ADVISORY FOR…
NORTHEASTERN PALM BEACH COUNTY IN SOUTHEASTERN FLORIDA…

* UNTIL 515 AM EDT

* AT 209 AM EDT…DOPPLER RADAR INDICATED A STATIONARY RAIN BAND HAS SET UP OVER NORTHEASTERN PALM BEACH COUNTY FROM HURRICANE MATTHEW. RAINFALL AMOUNTS UP TO THREE INCHES OF RAIN HAVE ALREADY FALLEN FROM THE RAIN BAND DURING THE LAST COUPLE OF HOURS. THE RAIN BAND SHOULD CONTINUE OVER THE SAME AREA THROUGH THE EARLY MORNING HOURS WHICH CAN PRODUCE ADDITIONAL RAINFALL AMOUNTS OF 1 TO 3 INCHES. IF THE RAINFALL AMOUNTS INCREASE MORE THAN FORECAST…THEN A FLASH FLOOD WARNING MAY BE NEED FOR THIS AREA.

* SOME LOCATIONS THAT WILL EXPERIENCE FLOODING INCLUDE…
WEST PALM BEACH…JUPITER…PALM BEACH GARDENS…LAKE WORTH AND RIVIERA BEACH.

BE ESPECIALLY CAUTIOUS AT NIGHT WHEN IT IS HARDER TO RECOGNIZE THE DANGERS OF FLOODING.

EXCESSIVE RUNOFF FROM HEAVY RAINFALL WILL CAUSE FLOODING OF SMALL CREEKS AND STREAMS…URBAN AREAS…HIGHWAYS…STREETS AND UNDERPASSES AS WELL AS OTHER DRAINAGE AREAS AND LOW LYING SPOTS.

PLEASE REPORT FLOODING TO YOUR LOCAL LAW ENFORCEMENT AGENCY WHEN YOU CAN DO SO SAFELY.

A FLOOD ADVISORY MEANS RIVER OR STREAM FLOWS ARE ELEVATED…OR PONDING OF WATER IN URBAN OR OTHER AREAS IS OCCURRING OR IS IMMINENT.
