Subtropical Storm Andrea was declared earlier this evening after a recon flight found a closed circulation and winds of 40mph. ST Andrea is moving towards the north at 14mph.

Subtropical Storm Andrea will be absorbed by cold front come Wednesday but there is a small window of opportunity for strengthening tomorrow. The system will not pose a threat to Florida.

The official start to the Atlantic Hurricane Season is June 1. There is no direct correlation between an early season storm and the overall activity for a season.

For the balance of the week our weather in Pompano should be mostly dry, with only scattered showers. The chance of rain will actually decrease a touch as we get towards the later part of the week and into the weekend from what I see right now.

A few clouds to our east this morning with a temp of 75° and a dew point of 66°, not really muggy feeling at the moment.

There are some showers off shore moving to the mainland but for the most part these will dissipate as they get close to shore since the moisture in the atmosphere is limited to the lower levels. So I cannot rule out a shower or even a thunderstorm this morning but not expecting anything significant.

This afternoon showers will develop west of us and today’s pattern keeps that activity away from us. High today 85° and we will see about the same tomorrow. The next 36 hours has a narrow temperature range for us. We will not see 95° as we did earlier in the week.

There is no reason not to enjoy the outside but if you are at the beaches be cautious of rip currents, we will see a moderate threat with the easterly breeze today.

Lastly for this morning, there is a tropical wave that the National Hurricane Center is monitoring to our east. Development is not likely this weekend and there is a slight chance of development into next week. At that time this system should pose no threat to us. This serves as a reminder that hurricane season is around the corner.

Happy Mother’s Day and we will have a mixture of weather today. Starting off with 82° and a mostly clear radar with just a couple showers off the Atlantic coast.

We will see some showers and thunderstorms develop out west and slowly move towards the east. Latest HRRR simulate radar shows this activity in the late afternoon to early evening hours.

There will be a threat of lightning this afternoon and the possibility of waterspouts this morning off the coast.

High today will be 91° and will be the first of a few days where we will be at or above 90°.

We are feeling summer approach as this Saturday morning. In Pompano we are at 79° with a dew point of 72° starting off this Saturday.

There are also a few showers offshore that will affect the coastal areas we we go through the morning. North Pompano and Deerfield had one of these a couple of hours ago. Current radar shows this activity.

For this afternoon most of the shower activity will be inland and on the west coast which is the pattern we have seen for the past couple days. High today will be 89°

Tomorrow much of the same but warmer with a high of 91°. As mentioned, not a bad weather weekend for Mother’s Day so no need not to go outside, it it will be warm. Hourly temps for the next 36 hours show we will not cool off much overnight either.

Many indoor and outdoor activities going on today such as SunFest, Ft. Lauderdale Air Show, Free Comic Book Day, and a host of other more local festivities.

Starting the day warm and muggy, 79° currently in Pompano after nearly a half-inch of rain yesterday.

Today we will be warm and there will be some scattered showers and thunderstorms but not expecting the coverage or duration that some of us saw yesterday in the area. Be ready for some rain but far from a wash out. High today will be 88° with sun and clouds. Hour by hour temps today

Any activity that develops today will begin to decrease around sunset and afterwards so this evening should be rather nice.

Starting our day with a very comfortable 68° after the cold front passage last night that did not bring much weather with it.

The front is well to our east now and production more activity than it did when it swept through during the evening. I did have a trace of rain last night.

Today is a great day to enjoy the outdoors with a number of activities going on such as the Pompano Beach Seafood Festival as we head to a high of 83°. Not much change tomorrow except a few more clouds and a. Dry slight chance of rain. Hourly temps for the next day and a half look great,

This is likely our last “cool” shot of air we have for the season. These front will have a difficult time moving through the state this time of the year. The GEFS temperature trend shows a steady, moderate increase in temps going into May.

72° to start our Saturday in Pompano this morning with partly cloudy skies. Winds have come down quite a bit overnight and will continue to drop off some more. With the easterly/southeasterly flow we still cannot rule out showers from time to time but nothing widespread is expected.

High today will be 80° with the only hazard being rip currents at the beaches. Overall weekend rainfall totals will be light and not expected to be above 0.1 inches.

Next front will approach the peninsula on Sunday and stall over central Florida on Tuesday. An area of low pressure is likely to form along this stalled front and will increase our rain chances Wednesday and Thursday.

After our cool down this past week the weekend ahead will bring us back above normal temp wise with a risk of a light shower anytime. The HRRR shows quick, light showers affecting the SE coast of Florida though early Sunday.

Rainfall amounts will be light with totals expected to be under a quarter of an inch. As I write this one of those showers is over head.

Temps will move back above 80° starting tomorrow and we will see that continue for the days ahead, so much for the cooler weather we enjoyed earlier this week.

Even the latest GEFS does not show a break in warmer temps in the weeks ahead.

Starting the day off with very pleasant, calm, 63° this morning with only a couple off shire showers.

No weather concerns this weekend as we are under the influence of high pressure which will yield mostly dry conditions with only a few clouds along with a high of 81°. That means no rip current threat, lightning, or overall severe weather.

This is great weather if you want to partake in some of the area festivals such as the Renaissance Festival in Deerfield or the Italian Festival here in Pompano. This is a great time to be outdoors, not too hot/cold along with the nice dew points.

Looking ahead to the work week we will continue with our 80s temperature trend with a slight bump in rain chances mid-week.

Looking into the far, extended temperature trends (with a grain of salt) the GEFS does not show any signs of winter temps for us going into the first few days of March and keeps us around 80° for the rest of the month.

A bit warmer this morning compared to yesterday with a temp of 72°. In the past 24 hours Pompano Beach had 1.62 inches of rain. Other current temps and 24 hour rainfall are below.

Rain has affected all areas out there this morning with more to come, current radar and water vapor satellite showing the area of activity in blue.

As we go,through today a cold front will approach and move through the area with plenty of shower activity ahead of it. So again today we will see planets of shower activity with a chance of strong to severe thunderstorms this afternoon. Focus for the stronger storms will be south of south of middle Palm Beach county and areas south. This is shown in the latest SPC outlook placing us in a Marginal risk of severe weather.

Timing of the strongest storms will be between 4pm and 11pm. Looking at the latest HRRR predictive radar activity does ramp up later in the day.

Main threats will be strong, gusty winds, brief heavy rainfall, and possible isolated waterspouts/tornadoes. Stay weather aware today.

High today will be 74° and cooling down into Monday, next 36 hours look like this.

Next front will be mid-week and should be mostly dry and uneventful. Next seven days do not show any real extremes.
