5/21 – High Risk of Rip Currents, Mostly Dry

Much like yesterday we are starting the day at 80F and looking at a high of 87F.  The easterly wind off the ocean is regulating our temps not giving us much a range between our highs and lows.  Along with the easterly wind comes the high risk of rip currents so again starting our of the Atlantic waters.

It may have felt hot lately but our highs have only been slightly above normal as you can see in Pompano’s climate data over the past seven days.

For the next week not much change.  GFS does show for now a better chance of rain late this work week with not much change in temps.  The 90s seen here on the GEFS may be a bit over done though.

No reason not to get outside and enjoy the day!

5/20 – Mostly Dry, High Risk of Rip Currents

Starting the morning at 80F with a light easterly wind off the oven keeping our temps a bit high.

Another mostly dry day in store for us today as the middle atmosphere does not have enough moisture to produce much rain.  The same easterly wind keeping us warm during the night will keeps our highs under 90F.  A shower is possible but very limited in coverage.  Here are today’s highs according to the latest HRRR:

For those participating in the Pompano Fishing Rodeo will have seas 2-4 feet on the easterly wind of 15-20 offshore.  At the beaches there is a high risk of rip currents, stay out of the water.
Tomorrow , we could see a few more showers with the temps about the same.  Into the work week we will see an increase in showers starting around Wednesday but no real changes in temperatures at this time.  16 day GEFS highs and lows:

Enjoy the day!

5/14 – Happy Mother’s Day, Some Clouds and Rain

Happy Mother’s Day to all the mothers that we owe so much to!  We are starting this morning off with some light showers over northern Broward with heavier activity to our south with a morning temp of 77F.  Latest radar looks like this:

Not a rain-out but not nearly as dry as we have been either. After these morning showers we could see another round this afternoon with a possible thunderstorm thrown in.  Not looking at anything severe though. High today 86F.  HRRR shows the activity this afternoon but rainfall amounts are under .15/hr.

I was lucky enough to catch a few pictures of yesterday’s sun halo in the early afternoon:

Enjoy the day and do not forget about the moms!

5/13 – Saturday Continues Warm, Mother’s Day a Bit Wet

Starting out with 76F and mostly clear skies in Pompano this morning.  We will continue to be warm and dry today with a high of 88F.  This morning’s HRRR is running a bit cooler but I do not think we will see the 94F that The Weather Channel is advertising for today.

Tomorrow we will see some rain around with a frontal system approaching the area.  Marooning hours look rain-free with showers and some thunderstorms in the afternoon into the evening.  Rainfall amount through the weekend per the latest WPC QPF

Beyond the weekend, we could see a few showers this coming week but temps will decrease a bit but the humidity will be returning.  Here is the latest GEFS for the next 16 days for our highs and lows.

Enjoy the day!

Beautiful South Florida in Store for Us

There is not much to say about today’s weather besides it is ideal, like yesterday, for any and all outdoor spectator events like the Ft. Lauderdale Air Show, SunFest, or your own reasons.  A “cool” 66F in Pompano at 8am and looking at a high of 82F.  Area temps this morning:

Beaches are great for swimming with no rip currents or that many sea pests.  Here are some pictures of Pompano Beach this mourning:

Go out and enjoy it!

Saturday 5/6/17 – Great Weather for an Air Show and SunFest

With so many outdoor activities this weekend weather will not be an issue to enjoy them.  Starting off this Saturday at 68F which is slightly below average for this time of the year.  We had a cold front sweep through late yesterday dropping our dew points and clearing our skies, setting up for a beautiful weeeknd weatherwise. Latest temps across south Florida this morning:

High today will be 86F and there are no weather worries.  So if you are headed to the Ft. Lauderdale Air Show or SunFest just take lots of sunscreen and drink plenty of water!

The next five days appear to be mostly dry with no extreme swings in the weather.  Only thing of note is tomorrow morning will be a few degrees cooler than today.  Latest GEFS highs/lows:
